Codifying Grants for Urban Parks and Recreation Access in Underserved Communities.

This Act establishes a permanent federal grant program to create and improve parks and outdoor recreation facilities in densely populated urban areas and low-income communities. This means more accessible green spaces, better outdoor opportunities, and potential job training for youth in your neighborhood. Priority is given to projects that engage and empower underserved communities, including Native American groups.
Key points
Establishes the permanent Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program to fund land acquisition for parks and the development or renovation of outdoor recreation facilities in qualifying urban areas.
Priority is given to projects that significantly enhance park access in urban neighborhoods, engage underserved communities and youth, and provide employment or job training opportunities.
Grant recipients must provide matching funds (cash or in-kind) equal to at least 100% of the grant amount, though this requirement can be waived under specific conditions.
Funds cannot be used for professional athletic facilities, indoor facilities, or ongoing operation and maintenance costs.
