Increased Paid Military Leave for Federal Employees in Guard and Reserve.

This bill significantly increases the amount of paid leave available to federal employees who are members of the National Guard or Reserve for military service duties. These employees will now accrue 40 days of paid military leave per fiscal year, up from the previous allowance. This change aims to better support those balancing federal employment with military obligations, reducing financial strain and improving job security.
Key points
The annual accrual rate for paid military service leave for federal employees is increased to 40 days per fiscal year.
Unused leave can accumulate, but the maximum carryover balance at the start of any fiscal year is capped at 20 days.
These new provisions will take effect starting October 1, 2025.
