Protecting US Property Abroad: Blocking Ships from Expropriated Ports.

This law aims to protect American investments in ports and marine terminals in certain Western Hemisphere trade partner countries. If a foreign government seizes land owned by US persons, vessels using those specific ports will be prohibited from entering, unloading goods or passengers, or receiving services in the United States. Citizens might experience indirect effects through potential supply chain disruptions or changes in international travel routes.
Key points
Vessel Prohibition: Ships that loaded goods or passengers at ports designated as seized from US owners will be banned from importing goods or releasing passengers into the US.
Purpose: To safeguard the property rights of US citizens and entities (at least 50% US-owned) regarding port infrastructure abroad.
The ban also includes servicing, refueling, and repairs for vessels in US ports if they previously used the prohibited foreign ports.
