Ban on Federal Benefits for Border Trafficking Suspects and Convicts.

This bill immediately prohibits individuals charged with or convicted of human trafficking or drug trafficking offenses committed near the U.S. border from receiving any Federal benefits, including Social Security, housing assistance, and professional licenses. This means crucial financial and social support can be cut off as soon as charges are filed. If the charges are dismissed or the individual is found not guilty, withheld financial benefits must be repaid by the government.
Key points
Loss of access to a wide range of Federal benefits (including retirement, health, and housing) occurs immediately upon being charged with border-related trafficking offenses.
The prohibition applies to human trafficking or drug distribution offenses that took place at the international border or within U.S. territorial waters.
If charges are dismissed or the individual is acquitted, eligibility for benefits is restored, and any withheld financial benefits must be paid out.
