Gun Dealer Transparency: Banning Federal Contracts with High Crime-Gun Sellers.

This law mandates the government to publish an annual list of licensed firearm dealers whose sold weapons are frequently recovered at crime scenes shortly after purchase (within three years). The main consequence is prohibiting federal agencies from entering into contracts with these high-risk dealers. This measure aims to enhance public safety by cutting off federal funding to businesses potentially contributing to illegal gun trafficking.
Key points
The Attorney General must annually publish a list of dealers linked to 25 or more traced firearms used in crimes within three years of their retail sale, across at least two of the last three years.
Federal agencies are banned from contracting with any dealer placed on this list for the current or two preceding calendar years.
The prohibition can be waived only for national security reasons, upon request from the Secretaries of Defense or Homeland Security.
