Increased transparency and control over union dues for members.

This law strengthens the rights of union members to receive information. It requires unions to annually provide members with detailed summaries of their rights, including the option to object to paying dues for non-representational activities. Crucially, union fees cannot be used for political or other non-bargaining purposes unless the employee provides explicit written authorization, which must be renewed annually.
Key points
Unions must annually provide members with full information regarding their rights, including the right to seek religious accommodation regarding dues payment.
Union dues cannot be used for political or non-representational activities unless the employee gives written authorization.
Written authorization for non-representational spending expires after one year and cannot be automatically renewed, giving employees greater financial control.
