Free TSA PreCheck for Severely Injured and Disabled Veterans to Ease Air Travel

This Act grants severely injured or disabled veterans free access to the TSA PreCheck expedited security screening program. The goal is to significantly simplify and speed up air travel for veterans with service-connected disabilities resulting in loss of limb, paralysis, or permanent blindness, who require mobility assistance devices. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) must coordinate implementation and outreach within one year.
Key points
Free TSA PreCheck Access: Veterans with specific, severe service-connected disabilities (e.g., loss of extremity, paralysis, permanent blindness) will receive TSA PreCheck at no cost.
Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility is limited to veterans enrolled in the VA patient system whose disability requires the use of a wheelchair, prosthetic limb, or other assistive mobility device.
Implementation and Outreach: TSA and VA must jointly implement the process within one year and conduct effective outreach to inform disabled veterans about available TSA screening improvements.
No Fee Increase: The implementation of this benefit cannot result in increased enrollment fees for other participants in the PreCheck Program.
