Protecting Colorado's Dolores River: New Conservation and Special Management Areas.

This Act establishes two new protected areas along the Dolores River in Colorado to safeguard natural resources, including native fish, whitewater boating, and scenic values. For citizens, this means enhanced recreational opportunities and limits on industrial development (like mining) within these zones, while explicitly guaranteeing the protection of existing private water rights and access to private property. Management plans will be developed with input from local communities and tribal representatives.
Key points
Establishment of a National Conservation Area (52k acres) and a Special Management Area (15k acres) in Colorado for environmental and recreational protection.
Restriction of motorized vehicle use to designated routes and withdrawal of the land from mineral leasing and new road construction.
Explicit protection of existing private water rights, property access, and the continued operation of the Dolores Project water infrastructure.
