Chronic Disease Management: Access to Services Before HDHP Deductible

This Act allows individuals with High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) to access services and items related to chronic disease prevention before meeting their plan deductible. This means citizens with chronic conditions can receive low-cost, highly cost-efficient preventive care without having to pay the full cost out-of-pocket early in the year. The goal is to prevent health deterioration and avoid significantly higher-cost treatments later.
Key points
Tax Code Amendment: HDHPs can now cover preventive services for chronic conditions before the patient satisfies the deductible requirement.
Benefit for Patients: Earlier and cheaper access to preventive treatment proven effective in preventing disease exacerbation.
Eligibility Criteria: Services must be low-cost, supported by medical evidence for high cost-efficiency, and strongly likely to prevent secondary conditions requiring expensive treatments.
