Protecting New Mexico's Gila River System: New Wild and Scenic Designations.

This Act designates certain segments of the Gila River system in New Mexico as components of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. This designation withdraws federal lands within these boundaries from entry, appropriation, or disposal under public land and mining laws, while ensuring that existing rights, such as grazing permits and water rights, remain unaffected. Additionally, the Act modifies the boundary of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument by transferring approximately 440 acres of land to the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Interior.
Key points
Certain segments of the Gila River system in New Mexico are designated as Wild, Scenic, or Recreational Rivers, withdrawing federal land from mining and disposal laws.
