Expanding In-Home IVIG Coverage for Seniors Under Medicare

This bill aims to expand access to in-home intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) administration for seniors covered by Medicare. Starting January 1, 2027, Medicare will cover in-home IVIG for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and multifocal motor neuropathy, in addition to primary immune deficiency diseases. This means more individuals will be able to receive necessary treatment in the comfort of their own homes, potentially improving their quality of life and reducing the burden of medical facility visits.
Key points
Effective January 1, 2027, Medicare will cover in-home IVIG administration for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and multifocal motor neuropathy.
Previously, in-home IVIG coverage was primarily for primary immune deficiency diseases.
Payment rates for IVIG administration may vary based on the treated condition, ensuring fair cost coverage.
