Awning Safety: New Standards to Prevent Accidents.

New regulations require the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to establish mandatory safety standards for awnings. This aims to protect citizens from serious injury or death, especially from unexpected awning deployment. As a result, awnings on the market will be safer for daily use.
Key points
Mandatory safety standards for retractable awnings, both fixed and freestanding, will be introduced.
The CPSC has 18 months to develop and implement these standards.
The goal is to prevent accidents, such as being struck by an unexpectedly opening awning.
