Political appointees and special government employees will not be able to access systems containing your Social Security data.
Unauthorized disclosure or access to your Social Security data will result in financial penalties, including damages of at least $5,000 per violation.
The Social Security Inspector General will be required to investigate each violation and report to Congress on threats to your privacy.
You have the right to sue the government or a private person for unauthorized access or disclosure of your data, and to be notified of such events.
