Veteran Benefits: Extended Payments After Status Changes

This act changes the rules for when veteran and family benefits stop. Now, if a life event like marriage, remarriage, or death occurs, benefits will be paid until the end of the month in which the change happened, instead of the end of the previous month. This means eligible individuals will receive benefits for the entire month of the change, potentially easing financial strain during difficult times.
Key points
Veteran and family benefits (e.g., compensation, pensions) will be paid for a longer period after life changes.
Payments will no longer stop at the end of the month before a change (e.g., marriage, death), but at the end of the month the change occurred.
This change applies to all events (marriage, remarriage, death) happening on or after the act's enactment date.
