Ending Foreign Election Interference: New Penalties for Organizations

This act aims to limit the influence of foreign money in U.S. elections. It introduces financial penalties for tax-exempt organizations that accept contributions from foreign nationals and then donate to political committees. This is intended to increase transparency in campaign finance and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
Key points
Tax-exempt organizations that receive funds from foreign nationals and contribute to political committees will face a penalty equal to twice the contribution amount.
If such an organization makes more than two such contributions, it will lose its tax-exempt status.
These provisions will apply to contributions made on or after January 1, 2026.
