Uyghur Human Rights Act: Refugee Protections for Xinjiang Residents

This act aims to facilitate the refugee status application process for residents of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region fleeing persecution. It grants priority processing for these individuals and their families, ensuring their applications do not count against general immigration limits. The law seeks to provide safety and support for those affected by repression.
Key points
Xinjiang residents fleeing persecution will receive priority refugee status in the U.S.
Family members (spouses, children, parents) of persecuted individuals are also eligible for refugee status.
Refugee applications for these individuals will not be counted against general immigration limits, speeding up the process.
