Expanded Healthcare Choice for Veterans with Service-Connected Disabilities

This act aims to allow veterans with service-connected disabilities to choose the TRICARE Select healthcare program. This means they will have access to a broader range of medical services outside the VA system, but cannot use both programs simultaneously. These changes will take effect one year after enactment, with a gradual implementation.
Key points
Veterans with service-connected disabilities will gain eligibility to enroll in the TRICARE Select healthcare program.
Choosing TRICARE Select means not being concurrently enrolled in VA healthcare.
Cost-sharing requirements for veterans in TRICARE Select will be calculated based on specific rules, regardless of their original enlistment date.
Dependents of veterans cannot enroll in TRICARE solely because the veteran enrolls.
