Youth Homelessness Support Program: Housing and Financial Aid

This act establishes a pilot program to help young homeless individuals find stable housing and improve their financial situation. Participants will receive housing assistance, financial and vocational training, and some will also get regular cash payments. The goal is to study how such support impacts young people's lives and whether it can reduce homelessness.
Key points
The program will provide support services to homeless youth (up to 30 years old), including housing navigation, financial coaching, and workforce development.
A selected group of participants will receive monthly cash payments of at least $1,400 or the equivalent of a two-bedroom apartment's fair market rent, for 36 months.
Participation in the program and received payments will not affect eligibility for other federal benefits or immigration status, and the money will not be taxed.
A database of homeless individuals (excluding citizenship or social security numbers) will be created, and an Advisory Council will oversee the program and collect data to assess its effectiveness.
