Hiring Preference for Certain Removed Federal Employees

This act aims to make it easier for certain federal employees, involuntarily removed between 2025 and 2027, to return to civil service. These individuals will receive additional points in the hiring process, increasing their chances of re-employment. However, it does not apply to those removed for serious misconduct or poor performance reviews.
Key points
Federal employees involuntarily removed between January 1, 2025, and January 1, 2027, will receive hiring preference.
These individuals will get 5 additional points on their earned rating for competitive service positions.
The preference does not apply to those removed from political positions, for documented misconduct, or with unacceptable performance reviews.
