Limiting Single-Family Home Ownership and Supporting Homebuyers

This new law aims to limit the number of single-family homes that large companies and individuals can own to 75. Entities exceeding this limit will pay a special tax. The collected funds will be used to provide down payment assistance to families purchasing homes, especially those sold by entities subject to the new tax.
Key points
Companies and individuals will be limited to owning no more than 75 single-family residences (up to 4 dwelling units).
For each residence above the 75-unit limit, the owner will pay an annual tax of $10,000.
Funds from this tax will go into a new trust fund to support down payment assistance programs for families buying homes.
Priority for assistance will be given to families purchasing homes from entities subject to the new tax.
