Alaska: Land Returned to Native Villages, No More Forced Conveyances

This new law changes how land is managed for Alaska Native communities. Village Corporations are no longer required to give land to the State for future city development. If land was already given and no city was formed, it can now be returned to the Village Corporation. This gives more control over land back to Native communities.
Key points
Alaska Native Village Corporations are no longer forced to convey land to the State for future municipal corporations.
Land previously conveyed to the State for unestablished municipal corporations can now revert to the Village Corporations.
These changes aim to restore land control to Alaska Native communities.
