Relief for Trafficking Survivors: Clearing Convictions and Arrest Records
This law allows human trafficking survivors to clear federal convictions for certain non-violent crimes and expunge arrest records if the offenses were a direct result of being trafficked. This change removes significant barriers to employment, housing, and social reintegration caused by forced criminal activity. It also introduces a formal legal defense and a path for reducing sentences for those currently incarcerated.
