Gas Pipeline Leak Detection and Repair: Federal Rule Implementation

This Act mandates that the final rule issued by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) regarding gas pipeline leak detection and repair takes effect on the date of enactment. These provisions refer to the rule issued on January 17, 2025. The Act also clarifies that the Secretary retains the authority to update regulations to provide standards that are more stringent than those provided by the current rule.
