This act strengthens privacy protections for farmers and others applying for loans or payments from the Farm Service Agency. It means your personal information provided to the Agency will be better protected from unauthorized disclosure, increasing your information security and trust in public institutions.

Disclosure will only be allowed in statistical form (without identification) or with your consent, which cannot be a condition for receiving benefits.
Knowingly violating these rules carries penalties of up to a $10,000 fine, up to one year in prison, or both.
