Mandatory Suicide Prevention Lifeline Labels on Firearms and Packaging.

New legislation mandates that all firearms sold, or their packaging, must carry a label with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number. This aims to increase awareness and access to help for individuals contemplating suicide, potentially impacting public safety and mental health.
Key points
All firearm manufacturers and retailers must attach a clear label with the 988 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number to firearms or their packaging.
The label must be conspicuous, in both English and Spanish, include specific warning text, and feature a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.
Violations of these requirements will result in penalties as outlined in the Consumer Product Safety Act.
The Act will take effect two years after its enactment, allowing time for compliance.
