Selling Federal Property During Shutdowns to Pay Essential Workers.

This law grants the President authority to sell federal real estate during a government shutdown to fund the salaries and expenses of essential federal employees who remain on duty. This mechanism aims to ensure critical services continue uninterrupted during funding lapses. However, employees paid through these sales will not receive the standard back pay usually granted after a shutdown ends.
Key points

Employees paid using these funds are exempt from receiving back pay once the shutdown concludes.
