Increased Benefits for Severely Disabled Veterans and Changes to VA Loan Fees.

This Act introduces significant monthly benefit increases for veterans with severe disabilities requiring aid and attendance. It also ensures higher annual cost-of-living adjustments for surviving families receiving Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC). However, it temporarily modifies the waiver of VA home loan funding fees for veterans with disability ratings of 70% or less seeking subsequent loans.
Key points
Veterans eligible for aid and attendance will receive an extra $833.33 per month, effective December 2026.
Compensation for surviving families (DIC) will increase annually by 1% more than the standard Social Security COLA for five years, starting December 2026.
Veterans with a disability rating of 70% or less seeking a subsequent VA loan may temporarily be required to pay the VA funding fee (change applies until September 2035).
