Easier Medigap Access and Increased Transparency

This act aims to simplify access to Medicare supplemental health insurance (Medigap) by prohibiting discrimination based on health status and age. It also enhances transparency for insurers and brokers, helping citizens make informed decisions about their health coverage.
Key points
Medigap insurers will not be able to deny coverage or raise prices due to health status, pre-existing conditions, or genetic information.
A larger portion of insurance premiums (the medical loss ratio) will have to be spent on health benefits rather than administrative costs.
The Medicare Plan Finder website will be improved to help citizens more easily compare insurance offers, check costs, and assess insurers' financial stability.
Insurance brokers will be required to disclose payments received from insurance companies, increasing transparency in their operations.
