Expanded burial benefits for veterans and extension of VA pension payment limits.

This law expands eligibility for veterans to receive headstones, markers, and burial receptacles from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) by removing a specific date-of-death restriction (November 11, 1998). It also clarifies that additional burial benefits can be provided even if the veteran was already furnished with an urn or plaque. Furthermore, the legislation extends the deadline for certain limitations on VA pension payments.
Key points
Veterans who died before November 11, 1998, may now qualify for a VA-provided headstone, marker, or burial receptacle.
The VA can now provide additional burial benefits even if an urn or plaque was already furnished (applies to deaths on or after January 5, 2021).
The deadline for certain limitations on veterans' pension payments has been extended until May 31, 2033.
