Faster Appeals Review for Interior Department Land Use Decisions.

This law creates a faster process for reviewing appeals against certain decisions made by the Department of the Interior (DOI) regarding federal lands and resources. If a party requests an expedited review, the Board of Land Appeals must issue a final decision within 6 months. If the deadline is missed, the appealing party can immediately take the case to federal court, where the decision will be reviewed completely anew (de novo).
Key points
Establishes a maximum 6-month deadline for the Board of Land Appeals to decide on specific appeals concerning DOI decisions.
If the agency misses the deadline, the appealing party gains the right to immediate judicial review in federal court.
In case of agency delay, the court must review the case from scratch (de novo review), potentially increasing the chances of overturning the original decision.
