Easier Degree Completion: Automatic Student Record Sharing for Reverse Transfer.

This law simplifies the process for students who transferred schools to obtain a previously unfinished degree or certificate (known as "reverse transfer"). It allows educational institutions to share records of coursework and credits to apply them toward an earlier credential. Crucially, sharing this educational data requires the student's written consent, ensuring privacy protection.
Key points
Colleges can now more easily exchange course completion data to help students earn a credential they did not finish before transferring.
The sharing of educational records (grades and credits) is only permitted after obtaining the student's written consent.
