Free Mental Health and Substance Use Care During Pregnancy and Postpartum.

This bill eliminates all out-of-pocket costs, such as copayments and deductibles, for mental health and substance use disorder services covered by private health insurance plans. This zero-cost requirement applies from the diagnosis of pregnancy through the first year postpartum, significantly improving financial access to critical care. The rules also ensure continuity of care and cover telehealth services.
Key points
Eliminates cost-sharing (copays, deductibles) for mental health and substance use disorder treatment for pregnant individuals and up to one year after pregnancy ends.
Applies to most group and individual health insurance plans, provided services are furnished by in-network providers, including via telehealth.
Strengthens protections allowing new and expectant mothers to continue treatment with their current provider even if that provider leaves the insurance network.
