Military VOTE Act: Easier Electronic Voting for Overseas Citizens and Troops

This bill simplifies the voter registration and absentee voting process for military members and citizens living abroad. It requires states to accept electronic applications and allows voters to receive ballots for future elections automatically.
Key points
States are required to accept voter registration and ballot requests submitted via email or online portals.
A single application can now cover multiple future federal elections, reducing the need for repeated paperwork.
$40 million in grants is authorized to help states upgrade their systems for electronic submissions.
Ballots will be sent electronically by default if the voter does not specify a different delivery preference.
The Department of Defense will study the feasibility of automatic voter registration for new military recruits.
