Extension of Hydropower Project Construction Deadlines

New rules allow for an extension of the time to begin construction of certain hydropower projects. This means companies have more time to complete investments, which may affect energy supply stability and future energy infrastructure development.
Key points
Hydropower companies licensed before March 13, 2020, can apply for an additional 6 years to start construction.
Expired licenses can be reinstated if they expired after December 31, 2023, and before this act became law.
