Limiting Social Security Overpayment Recovery to 10 Years.

This bill introduces a significant change for individuals receiving social security benefits. If you mistakenly received too much money, the government will only be able to recover those overpayments if they are discovered within 10 years from the date they occurred. After this period, overpayments will no longer be subject to recovery, providing greater financial certainty for beneficiaries.
Key points
The government will not be able to recover overpayments from Social Security (Title II) and Supplemental Security Income (Title XVI) benefits if the overpayment occurred 10 or more years ago.
This change protects beneficiaries from sudden demands for repayment of very old overpayments, potentially improving their financial stability.
