New rules for less-than-lethal devices: changes in firearms law.

This act amends the definition and regulations for less-than-lethal devices, such as non-lethal projectile weapons. It aims to update the law to account for technological advancements, potentially affecting the availability and use of such devices, as well as public safety.
Key points
Less-than-lethal devices that do not use typical ammunition and are not easily modifiable will be exempt from certain firearm restrictions.
A less-than-lethal device is defined as not expelling projectiles over 500 feet per second and not being readily convertible to accept common firearm ammunition.
Manufacturers can request the Attorney General to determine if their device meets the new definition, with a decision expected within 90 days.
