9/11 25th Anniversary Commemorative Coins and Museum Support
This act authorizes the minting of special commemorative coins for the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Proceeds from the sale of these coins, after covering production costs, will support the operations of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York. Citizens can purchase these coins, thereby contributing to the institution that remembers the victims and educates about these tragic events.
Key points
New commemorative coins will be issued: $5 gold coins (up to 50,000) and $1 silver coins (up to 400,000).
The coins will be legal tender but are primarily intended for collectors.
A portion of each coin's sale price ($35 for gold, $10 for silver) will go to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum for its operations and maintenance.
Coin sales are scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027, and last for one year, with no net cost to the federal government.
