Enhanced Home Weatherization Support for Low-Income Households

This act aims to facilitate and increase support for low-income individuals in weatherizing their homes. A new fund will help address structural issues that previously prevented energy-saving installations, leading to lower energy bills and improved living comfort. The financial assistance limits per dwelling unit have also been increased.
Key points
Creation of a Weatherization Readiness Fund: This fund will provide money to repair homes with significant defects that prevent the installation of energy-saving measures.
Increased Funding Limits: The maximum financial assistance for weatherizing a single home will increase from $6,500 to $15,000, and up to $6,000 for certain repairs.
Flexible Funding: The Secretary can increase the amount of financial assistance if market conditions require it to achieve the program's goals.
