Funding Infrastructure for Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment Facilities.
This law establishes a new loan and loan guarantee program to help hospitals and facilities build, renovate, or upgrade mental health and substance use disorder treatment centers. The goal is to increase the number of available beds and improve care, especially in rural areas and for children, potentially reducing wait times for essential services. The program is authorized for $200 million annually from 2026 through 2030.
Key points
Federal loans and guarantees are available for constructing, renovating, and upgrading adult and pediatric mental health and substance use disorder treatment facilities.
At least 25% of the funding is set aside for facilities primarily serving children and adolescents to improve pediatric access to care.
