Students gain right to sue colleges in court

The new CLASS Act of 2025 aims to make it easier for students to pursue claims against higher education institutions. It eliminates mandatory arbitration in enrollment agreements and prohibits institutions from limiting students' ability to sue them in court. This gives students greater freedom in resolving legal disputes.
Key points
End to mandatory arbitration: Colleges cannot require students to agree to resolve disputes solely through arbitration, opening the door to court action.
Full right to sue: Institutions cannot limit students' ability to pursue claims, individually or with others, against them in court, enhancing student rights protection.
