Cap on Foreign Students at US Universities

A new act introduces a limit on the number of foreign students who can enroll in US universities. From now on, a maximum of 10% of a university's student population can be foreign, which may affect the availability of places for students from other countries. In exceptional circumstances, for national security reasons, this limit can be raised to 15%.
Key points
US universities will be limited to admitting a maximum of 10% foreign students relative to their total student population.
The President or Secretary of Homeland Security can waive this cap up to 15% for national security purposes or if it's in the interest of the United States.
These changes may impact campus diversity and study opportunities for individuals from outside the United States.
