Increased Healthcare Choice for Veterans

This act introduces a pilot program allowing veterans greater freedom in choosing doctors and medical facilities, both within and outside the Department of Veterans Affairs system. This aims to improve access to healthcare and reduce waiting times. After three years, the pilot program is intended to become a permanent solution, giving veterans more control over their medical treatment.
Key points
Veterans will be able to choose primary care providers and specialists from a broader network of facilities, including private ones.
Existing location restrictions for facilities will be removed, allowing treatment outside the veteran's residential area.
The pilot program will run for three years, after which the principles of free healthcare choice will become permanent for all eligible veterans.
