Interstate Knife Transport: New Rules for Law-Abiding Citizens

This new law simplifies the interstate transport of knives for law-abiding citizens, overriding various local and state prohibitions. It specifies how to safely transport knives in vehicles and by other means, and protects individuals from arrest if they comply with the rules. Furthermore, it allows for the recovery of legal costs and expungement of records in cases of wrongful accusation.
Key points
You can transport knives across state lines if you are a law-abiding citizen and doing so for a lawful purpose.
Knives must be secured: out of direct reach in a vehicle or in a locked container (not glove compartment/console), and in a locked container for other transport methods.
Emergency knives (for cutting seatbelts) can be carried in the passenger compartment without being locked.
You cannot be arrested for transporting a knife if you comply with these new rules, unless there's probable cause you are not in compliance.
If wrongfully accused and you prevail in court, you can recover legal costs and have arrest records expunged.
