Birthright Citizenship Changes: New Rules for Children Born in US

This bill changes the rules for granting U.S. citizenship to children born in the United States. If enacted, birthright citizenship will only be granted to children whose one parent is a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident, or serving in the U.S. armed forces. These changes will not affect the status of individuals born before the bill's enactment date.
Key points
Children born in the U.S. will only receive citizenship if one parent is a citizen, permanent resident, or in the military.
The new rules do not apply to individuals born before the law's enactment; their citizenship status remains unchanged.
