Retroactive Pay and Job Protection for Federal Workers During Government Shutdown.
This Act immediately provides back pay for all federal employees, military members, and contract workers financially affected by the government shutdown. It ensures that all covered individuals receive standard compensation retroactively, regardless of whether they were furloughed or worked without pay. Furthermore, it protects federal employees from permanent layoffs (RIFs) during the shutdown period.
Key points
All federal employees and military personnel will receive full pay and benefits for the shutdown period, including those who worked without pay and those who were furloughed.
Federal contractors will be reimbursed for paying their employees who were laid off, furloughed, or had reduced hours due to the government shutdown.
Federal agencies are prohibited from implementing permanent staff reductions (layoffs) or placing employees on administrative leave for more than 10 workdays while the lapse in appropriations is ongoing.
