Conscience Protection for Medical Residents: Voluntary Abortion Training Only.

This law amends Medicare-funded residency programs to protect doctors in training. Residency programs cannot mandate participation in training related to performing, assisting, counseling, or referring for induced abortions. Participation must be voluntary (opt-in), and programs are prohibited from discriminating against residents who choose not to participate.
Key points
Medical residents gain the right to refuse participation in abortion-related training based on their conscience.
Federally funded training programs (Medicare) will lose support if they force residents to participate in this training or discriminate against those who opt out.
