Ending Legacy and Donor Preferences in College Admissions

This act aims to make college admissions fairer. Colleges receiving federal student aid will no longer be able to give preferential treatment to applicants simply because their parents are alumni or donors. This means that admission chances will depend more on merit rather than family or financial connections.
Key points
Colleges cannot favor applicants based on their parents being alumni or donors.
Increased equal opportunity for all students applying for college admission.
Changes apply to institutions participating in federal student assistance programs.
