Faster Defense Procurement: Streamlining Military Acquisition

This act aims to accelerate and simplify the acquisition of products and services for the military, especially those available in the civilian market. This will enable the military to acquire modern technologies more quickly, potentially enhancing national security. The changes also seek to reduce bureaucracy for companies working with defense.
Key points
The military will be able to purchase products and services, including commercially available ones, more quickly to accelerate modernization.
Contracting rules with suppliers will be simplified, including the ability to issue follow-on contracts more rapidly to the same recipient.
The number of required documents and rules for subcontractors providing commercial products and services to the military will be reduced.
Greater flexibility in determining what constitutes a commercial product, with a default assumption that products are commercial unless proven otherwise.
